Pineapple Race Story

What is the Lake Havasu City Annual Pineapple Race you ask?

The Pineapple is the International symbol for WELCOME which is what the Lake Havasu City Hospitality Association (LHHA) represents. The LHHA has sponsored this event for the past 10 years and watched all the businesses that are members of the Association, compete and build a great camaraderie while having fun and getting a great cardio workout!

Each team consists of (5) members from a business. These participants undergo safety training and an instructional ‘how to outrigger paddle’ from the Lake Havasu City Outrigger Canoe Club (LHCOCC). A steersperson from LHCOCC is assigned to a racing canoe with the (5) team members on the day of the event. On race day, (21) teams will compete in with 3 canoes in 7 heats. The winning team is based on best time from the start to finish (approximately ¼ mile = 1,320 feet).

It is a fun filled event to be a participant in BUT just as much fun to watch and cheer!

JOIN in on the festivities, WEAR your best OMPAH costume, BRING your beach chair & ENJOY the entertainment and Beer Garden.
